AlthoughPassion Pit's Michael Angelakos bravely confessed that he struggled throughout the recording of 2012's Gossamer due to his ongoing struggles with bipolar disorder, the gifted musician continues to rally artistically and has announced the forthcoming release of a third album, Kindred. The album will come out on April 21 on Columbia in the States and the first single, "Lifted Up (1985)" can be downloaded along with a second track, "Where The Sky Hangs," with pre-orders of the release.

Kindred was written by Angelakos and recorded in New York with co-producers and past collaborators Chris Zane (Holy Ghost!, The Walkmen) and Alex Aldi (Holy Ghost!, Magic Man) as well as Benny Blanco (Katy Perry, Maroon 5). According to a press release: "Many sounds on Kindred that one would assume are synths are Angelakos’ voice, manipulated by computers and pedals. Angelakos frequently repurposes sound: using top 40 signifiers for outré ends, crushing weird natural and synthetic detritus together into pop."

Watch the disarming video (which is taken from the album art) for the effusive "Lifted Up (1985)" as well as the clip for the chiming, sweetly sung "Where The Sky Hangs" below.

Kindred tracklisting:

1. Lifted Up (1985)
2. Whole Life Story
3. Where the Sky Hangs
4. All I Want
5. Five Foot Ten (I)
6. Dancing on the Grave
7. Until We Can’t (Let’s Go)
8. Looks Like Rain
9. My Brother Taught Me How To Swim
10. Ten Feet Tall (II)
